I'm Going To....

New York City!

(via)

I'm attending a conference in Newark at the end of March, but I'll be staying in NYC and plan on getting a little sightseeing done in my spare time. I've been once, for just a day, this past April when my love and I explored Times Square and the Metropolitan Museum of Art (which warrants a visit all of its own). On my list this time is Central Park and the Statue of Liberty (cliche, yes, but with limited time, I want to see the big things, and explore little neighborhoods later).

Any suggestions on where/what to eat/explore in Manhattan?

ahh, you're going to be in my turf!! and I've been missing NYC quite a lot lately.
Lower East Side for cool bars and people.
You can do the Central Park West walk and make your way over east to the Met.
Soho for shopping, though a lot of it is expensive.
If you're taking the ferry from NYC to the Statue of Liberty then it's worth it to do the whole tour of the seaport and downtown really. Start from WTC and go all the way down and around.
Lots of walking everywhere, but worth it!
You will have a GREAT time! NYC is always home to me, love it!

I just got back from Chicago!!! I was going to contact you, but then realized that we did not have enough free time at all, I didn't know when I'd be able to get out of the group stuff ...but I completely fell in love with it, so I'll definitely be back! :o)

Go to Fig & Olive, it's the most hole-in-the-wall place that makes you feel like you're in the countryside of tuscany, even though cars and traffic are zooming past outside the windows. the food is amazing, and bonus, they cook with no butters, just olive oil, so it's health AND delish!
